THE NISQUALLY TRIBE'S 5 MEMBER AMERICORPS PARKS AND LANDS TEAM WILL RESTORE AND IMPROVE PARKS AND TRAILS ON AND NEAR THE NISQUALLY INDIAN RESERVATION. SPECIFICALLY, THE TEAM WILL BUILD AND MAINTAIN COMMUNITY PARKS AND TRAILS, REMOVE INVASIVE SPECIES, AND RESTORE NATIVE PLANT HABITAT AT PARKS ON THE NISQUALLY INDIAN RESERVATION AND THROUGHOUT THE NISQUALLY WATERSHED. DURING EACH PROGRAM YEAR, THE AMERICORPS MEMBERS WILL IMPROVE 14 ACRES OF TRIBAL AND PUBLIC LANDS AND 16 MILES OF TRAIL. MEMBERS WILL GRADUATE WITH IMPROVED UNDERSTANDING OF ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP PRACTICES AND NATURAL RESOURCE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES. IN ADDITION, THE AMERICORPS MEMBERS WILL LEVERAGE AN ADDITIONAL 30 VOLUNTEERS WHO WILL BE ENGAGED IN LANDS CLEANUP, HABITAT RESTORATION, AND TRAIL BUILDING. THIS PROGRAM WILL FOCUS ON THE CNCS FOCUS AREA OF ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP. THE CNCS INVESTMENT OF $74,025 WILL BE MATCHED WITH $232,298 IN TRIBAL FUNDS.
