THIS PROJECT WILL UTILIZE TEDC GRANT FUNDS TO BUILD THE KNIK TRIBE S MANAGEMENT, ORGANIZATIONAL, AND TECHNICAL CAPACITY. THE STUDY WILL PRODUCE ACTIONABLE ROADMAPS TO GUIDE THE KNIK TRIBE THROUGH THE PROCEDURAL STEPS NECESSARY TO BECOME A TRIBAL UTILITY AUTHORITY (TUA) OR BECOMING AN INDEPENDENT POWER PRODUCER (IPP).THE TRIBE WILL WORK WITH A CONSULTANT TO EVALUATE AND OPTIMIZE ITS ENERGY RESOURCE OPPORTUNITIES, LAYING THE FOUNDATION FOR ENERGY DIVERSIFICATION AND INCREASED ENERGY SECURITY FOR ITS TRIBAL MEMBERS AND THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. WHILE IDENTIFYING OPTIMAL LOCATIONS FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY GENERATION FACILITIES, MAPPING AND ASSESSING THE LOCATION AND CONDITION OF ENERGY TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION INFRASTRUCTURE AND EVALUATING THE ECONOMIC POTENTIAL OF ESTABLISHING A TUA OR AN IPP.MOREOVER, DETAILED SPATIAL ANALYSIS WILL MAP THE TRIBES ENERGY RESOURCES ALONGSIDE EXISTING INFRASTRUCTURE, ENABLING COST-EFFECTIVE DEVELOPMENT AND MAXIMIZING THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECTS. PARTNERING WITH EXPERT ALASKAN ENERGY CONSULTANTS ENSURES THE TRIBE CAN STRATEGICALLY ACHIEVE ITS ENERGY GOALSWITHOUT UNNECESSARY SETBACKS OR INEFFICIENCIES.ULTIMATELY, THIS INITIATIVE EMPOWERS THE KNIK TRIBE TO SECURE ENERGY INDEPENDENCE, STRENGTHEN ITS ROLE IN ENERGY RESOURCE MANAGEMENT, AND CREATE SUSTAINABLE, LONG-TERM BENEFITS FOR ITS MEMBERS AND THE WIDER COMMUNITY.
