THE TULALIP TRIBE HAS CREATED THE MENTAL WELLNESS ALTERNATIVES PROGRAM (MAP) TO BETTER RESPOND TO INDIVIDUALS IN THE JUSTICE SYSTEM THAT HAVE A CO-OCCURRENCE OF MENTAL ILLNESS, DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY, AND SUBSTANCE USE; AND ADDRESS GAPS IN HOUSING, FINANCIAL STABILITY, AND MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT CAPACITY. THE TRIBE WILL USE FUNDS TO HIRE PERSONNEL, AS WELL AS SUPPORT TRANSITIONAL HOUSING, COURT ORDERED EVALUATIONS, AND PROTECTIVE PAYEE SERVICES. FUNDING IN THESE AREAS WILL PROVIDE THE TRIBAL COURT WITH THE RESOURCES IT NEEDS TO BETTER CONNECT PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS AND SUPERVISED INDIVIDUALS WITH NECESSARY SERVICES, STABILIZE PARTICIPANTS IN THE COMMUNITY, OBTAIN MENTAL HEALTH DIAGNOSES, AND INCREASE PROGRAM CAPACITY.
